Conservation Sudbury and the Friends of Lake Laurentian are celebrating the change of season with an event they're calling "The Summer's End Trail Romp". Lin Gibson is the chair of Conservation Sudbury. She visited our studio and gave us some details about the event.

Herve and Ursula Sauve are avid travellers and have seen many beautiful places around the world, but when it comes to Sudbury, the couple says there's no better place to be.
Herve, 71, and Ursula, 63, said they are proud to live in a city that offers 330 lakes and peaceful green spaces so centrally located.
The CBC's Hilary Duff speaks with two members of the Trail Care Crew. They're in Sudbury to teach trail building techniques.

Conservation Sudbury’s Bridging the Gaps project has received an Earth Day Canada Community Environment Fund grant, which it will use to restore and repair the highly used trail network at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area.
Bridges, boardwalks and interpretive signs will be constructed and installed throughout the 50 kilometres of trail in the area.

Work on upgrading a 12-kilometre trail in the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area is almost finished, thanks in part to a $2,500 donation from Union Gas to the Nickel District Conservation Authority.
"This trail is the longest and, to some degree, most challenging trail in the conservation area," said Paul Sajatovic, general manager of the Nickel District Conservation Authority "It goes all the way around the lake. It has some excellent viewpoints where you can see different features. And it provides opportunities to see a variety of wetlands." READ MORE...
