For the ninth straight year, the Fast Flowing Water Safety Contest is back!
This contest gives students in grades 4 to 8 an opportunity to design a poster or safety script about the dangers of fast flowing water, and to win great prizes for themselves and their school.
Contest participants are recognized at a city wide award ceremony - the winning poster is featured on a billboard and the winning script is professionally produced into a 30-second commercial!
The contest is based on teacher-developed and ministry approved curriculum materials that are freely available from Conservation Sudbury.
These grade specific lesson plans and activities on fast owing water safety, give teachers a turn-key solution in the classroom.
The purpose of this contest is to spread the message that Fast Flowing Water, though hard to resist, poses a real danger. In this contest we are asking students to present, in the form of a picture, or a video script their understanding of the dangers of fast flowing water.
Entry is open to students from all schools within the City of Greater Sudbury in grades four to eight. It is the decision of the principal of each school as to whether the school will participate.
This information gets your class ready to participate in the Fast Flowing Water Poster and Commercial Script Contest. The guidelines are important to keep in mind for submitting your class idea.
